Free daily word games with no ads or sign-up
Last checked: 15 October 2026
Most daily word games are free to play, but nearly all of them pay for it with ads. I opened 17 popular ones in a clean browser, played today’s puzzle without logging in, and watched which ad networks loaded. Only a few loaded none.
No ads, no sign-up
Pimantle
Guess the secret word by meaning, shown as a map where “closer to the center means more similar”. No ad requests in my test. It does use Google Analytics, and has a tip jar.
Rechain
Link a start word to an end word through hidden compound-word links. “No account required”, and no ad requests in my test. Daily, with an archive and an easy mode.
Stonele
Mine. Cross from one word to another, laying a path of words that are each close in meaning to the one before. No ads, no cookies, no sign-up. See the privacy policy for the little I do collect.
Everything else I checked
All of these were free to play today without logging in. What I saw on 15 October 2026, from one browser in the US:
- Semantle and Semantle Junior: an ad network (Snigel) loaded.
- Contexto: an ad network (Playwire) loaded. A paid pass removes ads.
- Cemantle: Google AdSense loaded.
- Linxicon: an ad network (NitroPay) loaded.
- Bridj: Google AdSense loaded, though no ad appeared in my test.
- Weaver: an ad network (Publift) loaded.
- The Wiki Game Daily: an ad network (Longitude) loaded.
- Waffle: an ad network (Venatus) loaded. Supporters don’t see ads.
- Squaredle: its code loads ads for non-subscribers. None loaded during the first-visit tutorial.
- Octordle and Quordle (Merriam-Webster): ad slots and an ad manager, but no ad network request in my test.
- Phrazle: several ad networks loaded after the first click.
- Wordle and Connections (New York Times): ad code in the page. I couldn’t load them in my test browser, so I didn’t check sign-up.
Ads can differ by country, by login and over time. If something here is out of date, email contact@stonele.com and I’ll recheck it. For more games that work on meaning, see games like Semantle and Contexto.
